About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

My daughter gave me this device for my birthday a couple of years ago. She knows that I'm both a computer geek and a pocketknife collector.
Like all SAK knives, this one is great, basically a copy of their "Classic." Although the blade/scissor etc. are small they really work. This is a precision crafted device that will last years and years. Add to that a quality flash memory drive, a little red LED flashlight and a usable (for small things, like a signature) pen and you have got a winner.
BTW I bought my first real SAK 30 years ago and still constantly use it when I hike, camp and around the house. It works as well as it did 30 years prior.

Received one as a gift two years ago, and lost it during the holidays this year. Found one on Amazon and made the purchase. I use the USB thumb drive daily, it is detected quickly by any OS. The small knife and scissors are perfect to have available also. Great product and great service. If I can't find the product on Amazon ... It usually is not available. Thanks Amazon.

Gone is the toothpick and tweezers. Present are essentials: 512Mb memory stick, the scissors, the nail file (and screwdriver,) a light, a pen and the knife (though it's not TSA-safe.) Hooray for Victorinox for bringing this nifty tool into the 21st century!
